The plan, it is more a guideline with a mix of needed parts and upgraded parts. I want to keep the original style of the FJ40 so no major bodywork will take place. I simply want to remove all the rust and paint it the same colour. Easier said than done.
Here's my list of what I want/need to do:
- 2" Suspension Lift
- New Brake Shoes Allround
- Machine Brake Drums
- Weldup rusted parts in chassis
- Paint chassis with rustguard paint - black
- Paint engine/gearbox/radiator - black
- Paint extractors - grey
- Heat Insulate exhaust under passenger footwell
- Change the air intake setup to something less restrictive
- New coolant hoses
- New fuel hoses where needed
- Sound deadener on bonnet, firewall, tub
- New seals in gearbox/transfer case
- Possibly a clutch kit or just the squeaky release bearing
- Swap the rear door to the barn style door (ambulance doors)
- Repair hole in tub underneath fuel tank
- Repair rusted areas in the rear corners
- Replace roof lining - grey
- Re-cover rear seats
- Paint rear seat rails - black/grey
- Polish dashboard/remove dimmer covers
- New front windscreen
- Sand Prime Repaint everything else - Dune Beige
- Working indicators
- Stereo that works
