Pete on ABC3 video.

Contemplating how the waves at the beach are in a continuous loop being only affected by the wind.
Using the xray filter this image represents my ability to see through people and find out who they really are.
This image of anger is enhanced by the infra red filter in Photo Booth with the focus being on the fist. I added the caption of my classmate in Photoshop to add some humour.

1.

Why should we pick you for ABC3?

Measuring in at 6 foot 6 I literally stand out amongst the mass of applications. This gives me a unique perspective on the world around us and can be used humorously to entertain children. As I’m currently studying to become a Design & Technology Teacher I’m genuinely interested in promoting education and developing social and emotional wellbeing amongst kids.

2.

Tell us what makes you tick? What are you into? (comedy, music, animals, sport, travel etc.)

I’m interested in the outdoors, mechanics and photography. I enjoy bushwalking, mountain biking and four wheel driving. This keeps me active and often leads to exploration of new destinations. I’m also a keen amateur photographer always looking for a new angle on everyday subjects. I also enjoy learning how things work, this is usually from hand on experience in pulling things apart.

3.

What is your favourite TV show that you think kids aged 10-14 would also be into and why?

My favourite scripted TV show is Freaks & Geeks and I think kids ages 10-14 would also enjoy it. It is based around the high school culture. The characters are believable and the dynamics of the show are appealing to people from different backgrounds. The show is based on the stereotypical clash between nerds and jocks and deals with common scenarios every teenager is faced with.

4.

Name a TV personality you admire and tell us why they’re great. (It might be a comedian, actor, host or anyone who makes an impact on you.)

Jeremy Clarkson – Known for hosting the car show Top Gear. I admire him because after 13 seasons every review he’s done is interesting. He also has the nerve to highlight the faults on some of the world’s most prestigious vehicles.

5.

If you were a superhero, what powers would you want and why?

Ability to fly. Time spent travelling could be better spent at the destination. It would also give the sensation of complete freedom not being restricted by gravity.

6.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Egypt – To witness the sheer size of the pyramids and to be in awe as to how they were built.

7.

If you had three wishes, what would they be?

  • Be qualified without having to do uni.
  • Travel the world with an unlimited budget and time.
  • Raise the speed limit on highways.
8.

What makes you LAUGH OUT LOUD?

When things don’t turn out the way they’re supposed to and nobody is injured.

9.

Name your Top Three TV shows from your youth and why you liked them.

Round The Twist – I really enjoyed the quirky adventures that the kids got up to. Some were quite scary and bizarre but every episode resulted in a comedic conclusion.

Police Rescue – The challenges involved in rescuing people always kept my interest. The fact that it was Australian television also emphasised the significance of the situations as I could relate to some of the locations such as The Blue Mountains.

Looney Tunes – As a child, Looney Tunes was everywhere. There would be short clips on the television before and after school. The adventures of Roadrunner, Bugz and Tweety were always colourful and kept me guessing as to what would happen.

10.

Name your Top Three things EVER!

11.

Do you have any extra skills or experience in the areas of writing, directing, camera operation or in any other areas such as stand up comedy, playing musical instruments, singing, dancing, sport etc?

I have a range of multimedia skills in the technical side of video production. I have worked in the industry as a video editor and skilled in the field of website design.

12.

Have you had any TV or on-camera experience?

My on-camera experience is minimal, however I have achieved over 20 000 views on youtube for a video I created as part of an SBS competition. My video was part of the top 20 finalists.

13.

If you were successful in becoming an ABC3 host what type of programs would you like to host and why? (Natural History, Quiz etc.)

I’d like to host an outdoor educational program, similar to Totally Wild with a variety of outdoor related material that also delves into the science of things. I prefer factual content over fiction as it has greater significance and can be related to easily.
